How to plan your Kimberley holiday?

Fenn McDonnell - Tourism Coordinator • June 12, 2020
It's time to wander out yonder... are you ready?
Top Tip #1
Take the time to plan (speaking from someone who loves to NEVER plan! I like to “wing it” and see where the adventure takes me. I tried this travelling overseas, Rome, London, Spain, and even here in the Kimberley. It doesn’t work. You end up spending 50% of your time in these places trying to work out how to get places, reading reviews, where do I stay etc etc. That time should be invested before you go whilst sitting around when you would normally be mindlessly watching TV or Facebook or news feed scrolling.
Top Tip #2
Better yet still, get professional help! Not a psychiatrist (well maybe)!
Top Tip #3
Don’t we all need a bit of that!? A travel agent or better yet still a LOCAL Tour Guide that knows the region, the dos and donts, the weather challenges, the river systems, the gravel roads. Scotty Connell, Ed from Instyle, or me 😊 They will save you thousands of dollars and hours of time. Don’t research let someone who has been doing it for 10-20 years help you. They can help you in an hour what would take you 100 hours. Even if you don’t want to pay to do their tours, offer them $200-$500 to make you an itinerary based on your things you like. It will save you thousands of dollars and more importantly TIME!
Top Tip #4
TIME is the essence. The Kimberley region is bigger than you could ever imagine. One false move, one wrong road, one flat tyre could cost you a week or 2 stuck or stranded.
Top Tip #5
Local guides know all the little tricks that you might never see on Trip Advisor or Wiki Camp threads.
I suggest whatever your plan is. Double the time you want to spend your favourite destinations. Once you are there, you will see why. You will thank me for it.

Bungle Bungle Caravan Park Fire Pit in the Kimberley
By Fenn McDonnell - Tourism Coordinator June 14, 2020
How do you describe the Kimberley’s to someone who's never been. What is the feeling you get when you are taking a photo of the most amazing thing that you have ever seen? How is that feeling when you look at that same photo a year later? How is that feeling when you show someone else that photo when are attempting to describe the beauty you saw when you were taking that photo?
Bungle Bungle natural wonders, what did we do before cameras
By Fenn McDonnell - Tourism Coordinator June 13, 2020
The Bungle Bungles is one of those places the is a feeling of timeless awe rather than a place to fill your Instagram with HERO shots. WHY the hell am I ranting on about photos and me and movies when writing a blog for a caravan park? You need to get here, rain hail or shine, camera or no camera. Your eyes are the most powerful camera in the universe that takes the perfect image.
